Dynamics of Vertical Jumps

چکیده
Introduction A vertical jump is a movement that is used in a plethora of sports. The primary goal of a vertical jump is normally to reach the greatest possible height. Other goals could include hitting an object such as a football or a tennis ball, intercepting the path of an object such as a basketball or volleyball etc. Because of the frequent use and the importance of the vertical jump in many different sports, the ability of an athlete in vertical jumping is often linked to successful performance in a sport and is sometimes considered an indicator of overall athletic ability. For example, vertical jump performance has been linked to maximum sprinting velocity (Kale et al., 2009) and weightlifting ability (Vizcaya et al., 2009).

Stochastic functional population dynamics with jumps
In this paper we use a class of stochastic functional Kolmogorov-type model with jumps to describe the evolutions of population dynamics. By constructing a special Lyapunov function, we show that the stochastic functional differential equation associated with our model admits a unique global solution in the positive orthant, and, by the exponential martingale inequality with jumps, we dis...

Objective: Stiffness is a characteristic of viscoelastic structures and is an effective factor in sports movement biomechanics, which is an important factor in motion production and neuromechanical control of human body. The purpose of this study is to determine the relationship between lower extremity stiffness and selected biomechanical variables during vertical jumps. Methods: 20 male physi...
متن کاملVertical Dynamics Modeling and Simulation of a Six-Wheel Unmanned Ground Vehicle
Vertical dynamics modeling and simulation of a six-wheel unmanned military vehicle (MULE) studied in this paper. The Common Mobility Platform (CMP) chassis provided mobility, built around an advanced propulsion and articulated suspension system gave the vehicle ability to negotiate complex terrain, obstacles, and gaps that a dismounted squad would encounter. Aiming at modeling of vehicle vertic...
متن کاملEffects of Ramadan observance on repeated cycle ergometer sprinting and associated inflammatory and oxidative stress responses in trained young men
Aim: was to assess the effects of Ramadan observance upon repeated sprints and associated inflammatory and oxidative stress responses. Methods: Ten young trained boxers were tested during a control period (C), at the end of the first week (R-1), and during the fourth week of Ramadan observance (R-4). On each occasion, they performed three vertical jumps, 10 x 6 s repeated sprints on a cycle erg...

In this paper, we describe the nonlinear outcome of spiral shocks in protoplan-etary disks. Spiral shocks, for most protoplanetary disk conditions, create a loss of vertical force balance in the post-shock region and result in rapid expansion of the gas perpendicular to the disk midplane. This expansion has characteristics similar to hydraulic jumps, which occur in incompressible fluids. We pre...
متن کاملEffects of fatigue of plantarflexors on control and performance in vertical jumping.
INTRODUCTION We investigated the effects of a mismatch between control and musculoskeletal properties on performance in vertical jumping. METHODS Six subjects performed maximum-effort vertical squat jumps before (REF) and after the plantarflexors of the right leg had been fatigued (FAT) while kinematic data, ground reaction forces, and EMG of leg muscles were collected. Inverse dynamics was u...
